Spiceworks iPhone app update

Spiceworks recently unveiled details for the new mobile network monitoring and help desk iPhone app. Check out the latest information and view a few early screenshots (although they may change significantly by the time the app is released).

Unofficial Spiceworks has some exciting news for Apple iPhone users, the iPhone app is on its way.

We have been reliably informed that the sign up process for the beta will be starting Wednesday or Thursday this week! This will be for the beta version and as with everything Spiceworks give the SpiceHeads a chance to shape it and make it better, like the desktop application it has been designed by the users for the users.

Once everyone is happy that the application is working correctly the final version will probably be released late December early January.

Screenshots

At the moment we only have a couple of screenshots, one of how the inventory view will look and another of the tickets. Both look great and very easy to use, this also shows that it not just going to be a way of updating tickets on the go but checking and hopefully updating the inventory on the move…

The European BootCamps Start in a week!

bootcampscountries The European BootCamps Start in a week!

As everyone should be aware by now the SpiceWorks European BootCamps are coming in just under a week!

The BootCamps are hands on training provided by two of the great Spiceworks Employees, Tabrez Syed the first employee and Vice President of Products and David Babbitt the Technical Project Manager. Ashley Connell the Marketing Communications Coordinator will also be attending to ensure you get your badges and be on hand to help answer your questions on Spiceworks. I can’t confirm this for the Germany or Italy BootCamps but Oliver the Regional Manager Sales & Marketing guy for the UK will be attending both the London and Manchester events.

These mini one day training sessions on Spiceworks are different from the larger SpiceWorld’s held in Austin, Texas as they are purely based on getting to know your peers and learning more about the tool that can make “Everything IT” easier.

Last year the team came to London and it turned out to be a great event followed by a great after party.

Spiceworks iPhone App is getting closer!

image thumb368 Spiceworks iPhone App is getting closer!

Over a year ago we heard a rumour off a iPhone app which didn’t seem to go anywhere and people were forced to use the MobileHelpdesk app from ObieOne which is now being supported by SpiceworksLounge.com.

Then on the at SpiceWorld 2010 everything changed! We got the official word that an iPhone was in development!

Even more recent still the community manager Nic (Spiceworks) tweeted that he has seen a demo of the app!!!

Its getting close, just a shame at the moment they aren’t making one for Android wlEmoticon sadsmile3 Spiceworks iPhone App is getting closer! although the team behind the iPhone app have said they are looking at making one for Android and Blackberry if the iPhone one is a success.

So make sure you keep a eye on the community new and Unofficial Spiceworks for updates and the official release!

Interview with David Babbitt (Spiceworks)

This months Unofficial Interview is with Babbitt (Spiceworks), David is part of the team providing the upcoming euro Spiceworks BootCamps. Spiceworks have already officially interviewed him on the boot camps over on the community here, but I feel we didn’t get to know him and they missed off the all important question… how does he like his bacon?

image thumb367 Interview with David Babbitt (Spiceworks)What do you most enjoy about working at Spiceworks?
At previous software companies where I have worked, inevitably we the software developers are asked to implement some features for which we cannot identify the usefulness for our end users–some of these features were done purely to “close the deal.”  At Spiceworks, it is not only great to work on software where we in product development can readily identify with the needs of our users and reach out to them for feedback, it is liberating to write free software where no sales dynamic dilutes my focus on building compelling value for the end users.  In short, I enjoy most thinking about how the SpiceHeads use our product.Apart from “work” at Spiceworks, I enjoy all of the people here.  It’s the people that make coming to Spiceworks never feel like work.

If you could change something about Spiceworks what would you change?
We need an espresso machine.  Anyone from Jura listening?

SpiceWorld 2010 photo’s and recordings

image767 SpiceWorld 2010 photo’s and recordings During SpiceWorld 2010 was trying to follow the goings on but with a couple of technical failures with the stream it was a bit hard, but again Spiceworks have come to the rescue with all the photos and recordings being posted up online.

Doug Brown has done a great job of sorting it all out and all the videos can now be seen on Spiceworks TV and there are also lots of pictures

The video recordings are definitely worth a watch, there are some brilliant talks from both SpiceHeads and Spiceworks. Do check them out!

Also well done to Daiku for winning the shavlik $1000 raffle!

Thanks again to all the Spiceworks team who worked on SpiceWorld 2010, here’s to a great year for Spiceworks and a AWESOME SpiceWorld 2011!
