SpiceRex is still on his travels, this time he’s made it to Australia and the home of Lawrie5252

Well, we’re happy to report that SpiceRex has landed in Australia.

He is pictured below streaching his legs after a long flight and apparently looking for some marsupials to eat. He’d apparently heard they were quite yummy and pretty easy to catch.

He also wanted me to thank the friendly folk at Spiceworks HQ for helping him with the airfare, but says next time he crosses the Pacific he wants first class.

So last night there was a community update was the new counter on the right hand side of community pages, counting you up in real time to 1million SpiceHeads exciting times!

Last nights update also included the following:

• Comparison Tables – compare features on products & services
• Editor supports Chrome – quoting now works properly
• Sort Inbox – by name, subject or date
• Delete PMs in bulk
• Mark PMs Read/Unread – in case you want to follow up on a message later
• Show 25 PMs per page (up from 10)
• PM page numbering – jump right to page 5, rather than going next, next, next, next
• Meeting attendance publicly visible – so you can see who actually showed up to the SpiceCorps meetings
• Unanswered Questions Replies tab is sorted by # of replies from least to most – makes it easier to find the questions that need an answer
• See which Feature Requests you’ve created or voted for
• Posting to Support forum suggests relevant Help articles
• Top Contributor list now goes to 11! (For that extra push over the cliff)
• 4.6 and 4.7 Early Access tester badges
• Plus numerous bug fixes

Spread Spiceworks is open again!

Yes I did think it was  going to close but recently found a project I started last year and brought it back to life.

Spread Spiceworks now provides you with PNG images of the community badge + some new cool designs.

Spread-Spiceworks has finally found a real use, it now provides PNG community badges for you to post on other websites and forums.

Its a great new way to Spread Spiceworks from UnofficialSpiceworks.com!

These images are really flexible to use and provide you with a very quick loading version of the current site badge.

You can quickly add them to all sorts of sites in which you wouldn’t have been able to add it before, including but not limited to forum signatures and blogs.

So we have recently seen the ability to check Dell Warranty Status direct from within Spiceworks.

This allows you to quickly see which machines are in and out of warranty as well as what ones are coming up to the end.

We have heard Spiceworks are working with HP to be able to do this for HP kit as well, can’t wait to see where this goes in the future.

Help Spiceworks figure out who to work with next. Vote for which other manufacturers you’d like to see warranty information for in this SpiceList.

We have just heard that:

Spiceworks 4.7 is 10-20% faster than 4.6

So how have Spiceworks done this?

Spiceworks have recently been working very hard to increase the performance of the application to make it quicker and easier for you to manage your IT. 4.7 is no different, in their recent round of hiring they employed some developers to look at building the new features and to look at how they can speed it up.

They have worked hard to clean up some of the code and make it more efficient while still adding cool new stuff.

Will we continue to see performance increases?

Yes, Spiceworks are dedicated to making the application faster, stronger and bigger. With some more performance and features coming in 5.0 soon it will be lighting fast.

Spiceworks will be releasing the official information and I believe stats later today on the community news page.
