Spiceworks community updates coming soon

So as everyone will be aware Spiceworks regularly update the community, over the next few months there are going to be some updates. In which may or may not affect you but having the news first can help you be prepared.

  • Audit Trials – With more admins now around the community for all the different groups Spiceworks have designed a audit trial system. This will be publically visable and show when a topic was moved, who marked the best answer and also making people give reasons for deleting topics. All off this is designed to make the community more open so everyone can see who did what.
  • Clearer guidelines coming for group admins – So to help with the above Nic (the community manager) is going to work on some guidelines for Group Admins on when to mark answers or close topics. This will hopefully ease up any worry about if they are doing the right thing and with the audit trial above we will hopefully see a increase in group admin activity. If you are a group admin and have any questions you can always PM me (akp982) or Nic we are happy to help.
  • From the tranches to get a name change – The from the trenches group is to get a name change, this is because it can be confused with people going to the war or coming back from the war. This may only be me though… Don’t know what the from the trenches group is? Its about Articles & reviews from Spiceworks users about technology. Read more and join in on the community. Currently there is one article “Real World SMB Security” written by DigitalBlacksmith its well worth a read.
  • Not confirmed but it appears the number of groups may go down, instead of having little groups for cisco or hp switches it will just be “networking” this will help with the amount of unanswered questions as well as make it easier to navigate the community. This may or may not happen though.
  • Also we are meant to be seeing the release of Spiceworks 4.5 tomorrow icon smile Spiceworks community updates coming soon yay

As we find out more we will update you icon smile Spiceworks community updates coming soon

So the date is 18th December 2009. The place, Greater Toronto. The time, 6:30pm.

SpiceWorld2009 London – Some pics

WOW

What a great day and evening it was.

We didn’t get as many pictures as Spiceworld Austin did but here are the few we did get, click them for a larger version.

We learnt lots from the fact Spiceworks’s largest network is 39,000 devices to how to start using 4.5 when its released this week.

It was a great day had by all, the venue ended up becoming a bit cosy but that’s a good thing. The turn out was GREAT. Meeting the team was a great experience as well as meeting all the people I had seen around on the community.

I was also surprised to see we had some Swedish people over icon smile SpiceWorld2009 London – Some pics

I would definitely go back next year icon smile SpiceWorld2009 London – Some pics and were hoping to get some more UK SpiceCorps (local user meetups) going.

New Spiceworks Community Manager – Nicholas Tolstoshev

The Spiceworks community has a new community manager Nicholas Tolstoshev or Nic have joined the Spiceworks team to help manage everything to do with the community.

His current profile message:

image292 New Spiceworks Community Manager Nicholas TolstoshevHi! I just joined Spiceworks as the Community Manager.

I cut my teeth on community management over at Intuit’s QuickBooks community, and in a former life I was an IT guy for small businesses.

My spare time is taken up with movies, video games, salsa dancing, hiking, and a voracious appetite for reading. I just moved to Austin from Tucson, AZ, but I’m originally from Australia.

Feel free to drop me a line and say hello!

So everyone give a warm welcome to him when you see him around the community. Let’s try not to scare him off too quickly.

It does appear he is already in need of help though according to his status:

The community must be a big and scary thing to start to get to grips with. Especially with people like Papa Smurf on there.

Best of luck Nic icon smile New Spiceworks Community Manager Nicholas Tolstoshev

Spiceworks seems a great place to work and I’m sure you’ll have fun.
