Making your day easier… The Afternoon

spiceworkslogo1 Making your day easier… The AfternoonSo below you can see how Spiceworks makes coming to work better, but you’ve had lunch and now feel bloated and just want to try to get something’s done. Spiceworks is here to help you.

How Spiceworks helps you in the afternoon?

12:25 You get called away from eating your lovely bacon and sausage roll from the burger van because a users has just managed to delete the whole of one of your clients work. Out come the backup tapes and the sweet starts to roll down your face as you pray the backups worked. Luckily though you had been using Spiceworks and it had not alerted you to any issues recently.

13:15 50mins later all the documents are recovered and you are the IT hero again. You decide to pop over to the IT community to have a read of some new products you are looking at buying in the reviews section.

14:15 An hour later you think to yourself where did the time go look at what you had done and release you are now a Jalapeno on the Spiceworks community after your 1,000 post. You have spent some time helping people out by reviewing products and reading up on the latest IT news.

15:04 After completing some minor jobs around the office you decide to finish the budget for the next year and use the complete inventory run a report of all the machines with under 1gb ram so you can upgrade them all. You export the report to excel for future reference and finish the boring bit of writing up why you need a bigger budget.

16:13 The CEO has decided to do some work but has found he cannot access his emails. Instead of going around the office and getting asked questions by everyone on the way you open up Spiceworks and click the report support icon. This fires up a RDP session direct to his machine, you login fix the problem and leave before he has even released.

16:48 Its time to wind down for the day you decide to pop over to the Spiceworks community to check on the feature requests you have submitted to see if anyone else likes it, this helps the Spiceworks team build the features YOU want making Spiceworks even better.

17:25 Your about to leave and then the fit girl on reception has sent in a ticket using the user portal saying the internet is down. You try it on your machine it works… You decide to go around just to get a look. On the way you wonder how could she break the internet.

18:06 After half an hour of working out why it didn’t work to find out she had the wrong DNS servers… God knows how it happened. You head home wondering if you will get that dreaded call tonight…

Just before you go read home how Spiceworks makes falling asleep easier.

Making your day easier… The morning

spiceworkslogo3 Making your day easier… The morning Spiceworks helps make your day easier by providing you with the tools you need though out the day. Spiceworks is their at all times of the day to help you out…

The upcoming posts today with walk you though the average day for someone using Spiceworks.

How Spiceworks helps you in the morning?

08:15 Rock up to work, get a coffee and fire up your machine.

08:30 You sit down, open up your emails to see Spiceworks has sent you a couple of email alerts. One letting you know one of the Servers was restarted and the other telling you one of your lovely users has installed antivirus 2009 for the second time this week.

9:00 After checking why the server restarted and finding windows updates decided to install themselves and restart the machine, you add it to your helpdesk as something you need to fix. You finally get around to going over to the user’s machine to give them another warning about clicking links in spam email and restoring their machine.

10:37 After the headache of getting the machine clean and onto the network its time to sit down with a coffee and check on what your helpdesk says you have to do. Its only just gone 10:30 and you already see its going to be a day full of user error problems with stop you doing sorting out a new network card for one of the servers. You decide you can assign some of your tickets to the new intern while you work out why the directors blackberry isn’t working.

11:45 The morning is nearly over and you decide to run a quick report for the finance department to show why you need a new better server and pull off the custom report “Tickets related to File-05-DB being slow”. Once you have checked it seems to be right and is going to help not hinder, you export it to a PDF and drop it into a email along with the big rant you wrote last night while thinking about work again.

Coming at midday the Afternoon and before you go home how Spiceworks makes falling asleep easier.

Spiceworld Boston 2009

Some images from Spiceworks Spiceworld Boston 2009

Back in December I said that we wanted to hold a series of “SpiceCamps” — regional one-day, hands-on, Spiceworks training sessions — around the world in 2009.  The SpiceHeads that came to Spiceworld Austin 2008 loved that they got to meet each other, interact with Spiceworkers, and hone their IT and Spiceworks skills.  So we figured why not take the “show on the road” so to speak,  so people could more easily get together (we understand getting to Austin isn’t always the easiest or cheapest thing to do!).  We changed the name to SpiceWorld to keep it in the SpiceWorld brand and decided to head with our user’s help to Boston, Las Vegas, Orlando and London in 2009, plus have our annual 2-day conference in Austin, October 22-23.

Spiceworks Helpdesk on the iPhone?

iphone home Spiceworks Helpdesk on the iPhone?

A little bird has told Spiceworks-News that Spiceworks are working on a iPhone helpdesk app. At the moment the details are very limited but we are hoping to get more out of them soon.

We know it will give you the functionality to view and edit your helpdesk tickets on the move.

Making it even easier to use the Spiceworks helpdesk to give your users a better experience with the IT team.

iphone sw Spiceworks Helpdesk on the iPhone?

Think about it, you walk around to a users desk they start wittering on about problems you didn’t come to fix so you pull out your phone and quickly update the helpdesk ticket with all the things you have done, keeping your reports, your notes and your team up to date.

Overtime hopefully Spiceworks will add in the inventory and maybe even reporting on the go.

Leave your comments about what you think of a iPhone app and lets see if we can’t give them even more reasons to build one.

  • What would you like to see in the app?
  • Should it be extended to include the whole inventory?

Of course as soon as we got more information we will give it to you!
