IT Access Point

IT Access Point – Your Gateway to everything IT – Has recently done a article on Spiceworks…

image68 IT Access PointI began using Spiceworks about 2 months ago.  They released version 4.0 on Friday, June 19th.  It has helped me tremendously.  Spiceworks is a help desk and IT asset tracking system.  (It has a lot more features than that, but you get the idea.)

Spiceworks allows me to enter in help desk calls quickly and efficiently and helps organize priorities.  There is a Customer Portal page that allows users to enter their own requests.  Once a request is entered, they can track the progress of the ticket from assignment to completion.  You can set it up so that they even get an email when you make comments on the ticket.

Spiceworks Helpdesk on the iPhone?

iphone home Spiceworks Helpdesk on the iPhone?

A little bird has told Spiceworks-News that Spiceworks are working on a iPhone helpdesk app. At the moment the details are very limited but we are hoping to get more out of them soon.

We know it will give you the functionality to view and edit your helpdesk tickets on the move.

Making it even easier to use the Spiceworks helpdesk to give your users a better experience with the IT team.

iphone sw Spiceworks Helpdesk on the iPhone?

Think about it, you walk around to a users desk they start wittering on about problems you didn’t come to fix so you pull out your phone and quickly update the helpdesk ticket with all the things you have done, keeping your reports, your notes and your team up to date.

Overtime hopefully Spiceworks will add in the inventory and maybe even reporting on the go.

Leave your comments about what you think of a iPhone app and lets see if we can’t give them even more reasons to build one.

  • What would you like to see in the app?
  • Should it be extended to include the whole inventory?

Of course as soon as we got more information we will give it to you!
